Russ Crabtree

J. Russell Crabtree is an Associate Member of SIMA® International and president of Holy Cow! Consulting. His work focuses on organizational assessment and design, strategic planning, succession planning, and team building.

The mission of Holy Cow! Consulting is to help organizations make better decisions, in less time, with more confidence. In many cases, those decisions hinge on the collection of information that increases organizational self-awareness. While many organizations are quite proficient at transmitting information through print and digital media, they more or less function at the oral transmission level when it comes to collecting the information they need to make critical decisions. Russ has developed a number of benchmarked tools to conduct system-wide assessment and provide leaders with critical, strategic information for moving forward with greater confidence.

Russ has served a wide variety of organizations, including hospitals, colleges and universities, state agencies, arboreta, and other non-profit organizations. He has particular expertise in serving public libraries, where the development of his Patron Assessment Tool© has been a landmark in evidence-based planning.

Russ is a writer, trainer, and public speaker. He has authored books on HIV in Central America and suicide prevention in the United States. He has developed training curricula in the areas of team building, conflict management, and domestic violence. He has also trained thousands of persons to deal with some of the most serious issues that individual face in life.
