Jeff Yockey

Dr. Jeff Yockey is a Search Consultant with SIMA® International. He conducts searches for institutions of higher education and a variety of non-profit organizations.

As a search consultant, Jeff offers a number of important assets to his clients:
an entrepreneurial spirit, his work and experience in higher education, good international and cultural sensitivities, a strong relational style, a wide network of contacts, a hunger for learning, and a love of new opportunities, challenges, environments, and communities.

Among his many accomplishments, Jeff takes a bit of pride in these:

• putting over 15,000 miles on his red paper route bike as a paperboy.
• working for two summers as an Interpretive Park Ranger for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
• directing summer cross-cultural programs for college students in China in the mid-1980's and early 1990's.
• running a marathon.
• directing a 175 bed camp and conference center in the Colorado Rocky Mountains for seven years.
• being a life-long Cub fan.
• installing a beautiful oak hardwood floor in the living room of his last home (and being in awe of gym floors ever since).
• coaching Little League baseball teams for four summers.
• taking his family to Eastern Europe for a year while working for a liberal arts university.

I have always enjoyed walking alongside people and organizations who are in times of transition. It is a real honor to be asked into the individual and corporate lives of everyone involved in a search. I'm a natural networker and recruiter and extensively use these abilities in my searches. The SIMA® process allows those of us in SII to do our search work with a high degree of confidence.

I was in my mid-thirties when I went through SIMA®. Even as I was writing up my life experiences as a part of the process, I began to recognize clear patterns of giftedness in my life that I'd never seen or verbalized before. Right then I was struck with the elegant and natural way that SIMA® ordered my life's experiences into powerful observations of preferred roles, circumstances, subject matter, and outcomes.

SIMA® is a powerful tool that my SII colleagues and I use to make sense of all the historical data in a candidate's life. We do this so the search committee and/or board can responsibly evaluate each of the final candidates' degree of "job fit" in a specific role and organization. In short, we do what we do because Job Fit Matters!
